Plastic surgery trends for men: The Daddy- Do-Over
Jan 13, 2022

When it comes to aesthetic trends, men are no longer far behind women in looking and feeling their best selves. According to plastic surgery.org, 2019, a new report from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons reveals that more than 1.3 million cosmetic procedures were performed on men in 2018 alone, representing a 29 per cent increase since 2000.

Post-Covid lockdowns have also prompted some men to reevaluate their health, fitness and appearance, encouraging many to seek plastic surgery and minimally invasive cosmetic procedures.

So what are the trends in plastic surgery for men? Just as women’s bodies change through the decades, men experience the same issues.

Liposuction-Kuwait

In the Middle East region, the trend for bodybuilding is massive, and six-pack abs are one of the primary aesthetic goals. Getting great abs takes dedication and countless hours of gruelling workouts coupled with strict diets. However, many men turn to tummy tucks or Laser-assisted such as Vaser to obtain a good midsection. On the other hand, an unfortunate abuse of anabolic steroids, weight gain or natural hormone problems can also lead to gynecomastia or the male breast. Liposuction assisted surgery has become an excellent solution to treat the breast and restore the normal male anatomy.

With more than 200,000 surgical procedures performed on men in 2018, Rhinoplasty was the most popular, with more than 52,000 procedures. Eyelid surgery ranked second, followed by (up to 5 per cent).

Breast reduction (gynecomastia) ranked number four with more than 24,000 procedures, up 22 per cent since 2000, and hair transplantation ranked fifth, up 17 per cent since 2017 (plastic surgery.org, 2019)

Aside from the above surgeries, many men opt for facelifts and brow lifts to give a more youthful appearance. The chiselled jaw look can be achieved by strategically placed dermal fillers, as can a straighter nose and a more defined chin.

Modern techniques mean some of these surgeries can be performed under local anaesthesia and twilight sedation, removing the requirement of going under general anaesthesia. Minimally invasive procedures like accutite and vaser can tighten the skin as a lunchtime procedure. Moreover, botox, threads, PRP face and hair and laser treatments are becoming more popular than ever.

If you are a man considering any cosmetic procedure, I urge you to do your research. Find a reputable surgeon with good credentials and a track record of patient satisfaction and safety.
